Workshop Title: Mindfulness of the Body

What to Expect:

What to expect: Of the four foundations of mindfulness, the first and most important is mindfulness of the body. From infancy, we learn unconsciously to interpret everything that happens in our lives as pleasant or unpleasant based on how we experience it through the five senses in our body. And yet, as we grow, most of us forget this and live our lives from the neck up. Join us for a half day of meditation, short talks, and group discussions which will increase your awareness of the body.

Registration required. Register at https://apm.activecommunities.com/montgomerycounty/Home

Workshop Title: Dealing With Holiday Stress

What to Expect:  Family reunions, outings with friends, parties, presents and food: The period from Thanksgiving to New Years is supposed to be the happiest time of the year. For all too many of us, the stress generated during the holidays makes it a time to dread rather than a time to look forward to. Join us as we discuss some of the issues that make these six weeks less than they could be. We’ll explore stress, gratitude, generosity, dealing with expectations, and New Year’s resolutions, and give you some ways to reduce stress and create a happiness that does not depend on outside conditions.  You’ll also learn a series of one minute meditations you can use on the spot when the going gets tough.
