I began meditating in 2004. The increased calm and understanding I gained about my mind led me to want to share what I know with others. I began teaching meditation to students at the Potomac Massage Training Institute (PMTI) in 2007, and am now an adjunct faculty member with PMTI. I added classes at my former workplace the following year. As I gained in understanding, I realized I needed more formal education, and this lead me to the Meditation Teacher Training Institute (MTTI) of Washington, DC. My MTTI teachers included Tara Brach, Jonathan Foust, Hugh Byrne and Pat Coffey, among others. I graduated from MTTI in 2013 and continued my studies as a member of the 2013-2014 Integrated Study and Practice (ISP) certificate program of the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies in Barre, Massachusetts.
I am also an instructor in continuing education with Howard Community College in Columbia, MD and teach for the Montgomery County, MD Department of Recreation.
I have over 130 nights in silent retreat. This may sound impressive, but my teacher has over 8 years in silence. Still, you have to start somewhere.
I live in Maryland, and teach around the Washington, DC metro area, as well as via electronic media to students around the country.
